The history of the food processing industry dates back to ancient times. Through long-term practice, humans gradually developed a series of food processing methods. In China, the process of fermenting soybeans, wheat, and other ingredients to make sauce was invented during the Zhou Dynasty, making it one of the earliest food processing technologies. my country is also the world's first country to brew vinegar, with written records of vinegar as early as the 8th century BC. Over time, food processing technology continued to develop and improve, gradually forming a modern food processing industry.
The 1960s to the early 1980s marked the initial mechanization period of the food processing industry. During this period, while food processing plants remained semi-mechanized and semi-manual, a large number of flour, rice, and edible oil processing plants were established across the country, achieving initial mechanization. Simultaneously, the food machinery industry also achieved a certain degree of development, initially forming an independent machinery industry sector. On this basis, domestically produced Jixin food machinery significantly supplemented the supply, essentially meeting the needs of the domestic food industry and making a significant contribution to the industrialization of food production during this period.
However, under the historical conditions of the time, issues such as food standards and food safety were rarely addressed. With improved living standards and heightened health awareness, demands for food quality and safety are becoming increasingly stringent. Consequently, the food processing industry has begun to prioritize quality and safety, strengthening management of raw material procurement, production processes, and product inspection.
Simultaneously, technological advancements have also driven the development of the food processing industry. New processing technologies, equipment, and techniques, such as ultra-high pressure, cryogenic freezing, and nanotechnology, are constantly emerging. The application of these technologies has significantly improved food processing efficiency and product quality. Furthermore, the development of modern information technology has provided the food processing industry with new management and marketing methods, such as traceability systems and e-commerce.
Overall, the history of the food processing industry has been one of continuous innovation and improvement. In the future, with technological advancements and rising societal demands, the food processing industry will continue to develop towards greater efficiency, safety, and environmental friendliness.
